No school is perfect and finding an international school for your kids can be a challenge. As parents, we hope we are doing right by helping to pick a good school, but there are times when things do not work out and it is better to move your child to another school. When selecting a school, you should involve your kids in the process.

Here are some signs that you may have chosen the wrong school.

Struggling to Settle In

Most kids settle in within a few months and they enjoy their days at school. If notice that your child is having trouble settling into an international school and they do not seem to be enjoying the experience, it may be a sign something is wrong.

If you have already talked to the school about the problem and they have not helped you address it, it may be time to look for a new school. A good school will help new kids fit in and support them during difficult situations.

Consistently Bad Behaviour

If your child is young and cannot fully explain themselves but continue to cry and have a tantrum before school, there may be something wrong. If this behaviour continues for weeks or even months, you need to address the situation. If they constantly complain about going to school, there must be a good reason for it.

Cannot Make Friends

If you have tried everything and your child continues to struggle to make friends, maybe a change of scenery will do the trick. Some kids do not find other students with similar interests and this can make having friends impossible. If your child has not made any friends after a few months, you may consider changing schools.

Lack of Support

When you reach out to a school for help because your child is having issues and you get a mixed response, it is probably time to move on. If a school is unwilling to help a child who is having problems, do not waste your time with that institution. When your child needs help, the school should react.

Finding the right school for your child can be difficult, there is a lot of research that needs to be done and even then, you are not sure whether you have made the right pick. If notice any of the signs mentioned above, make sure you speak to the school to try and resolve any issues before taking drastic measures.
